Adebayor's future could be decided today

Adebayor's future at Real Madrid is at stake today, now that the season comes to the end. His loan spell ends on June 30 and white team he has to communicate to Manchester City if club wants to sign the player, paying the purchasing clause of 16 million euros which is stipulated in the contract.

Appointment will be at the Santiago Bernabeu with Adebayor and his agent, Darren Dean, and the sports managers of the club. It is not ruled that Mourinho also appear in the meeting because he is his main supporter and his view on Africa player has always been very positive. In any case, the club is aware of what the Portuguese coach wants.

The meeting will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of paying 16 million euros for the signing of Adebayor. The player's initial performance has been remarkable, but has decreased in recent games and is also his high salary (2.1 million euros) makes that Real Madrid thinks the case a lot. Therefore, in the club there are certain doubts to be cleared today with what will be discussed together.

Moreover, Togo player, who has several offers of Premiership teams and even of Italy (the City does not want him), also wants to know what would be his role if he stays at Real Madrid. He want to know what position he would take, if Benzema and Higuain are ahead of him or the club thinks to further strengthen his position.

These five months in Madrid have been helpful to him. He is delighted with the club, template, coach and city. He is acclimated to all, as proven in the goal celebrations and his fellowship in the day to day with his peers. He is joking and happy, and his arrival has added unity and positivity to the group.

Champions League (Semifinals, 1st Leg): Adebayor

ADEBAYOR: "THEY ARE ALWAYS CRYING LIKE BABIES"

A Barcelona player crying in front of Adebayor
Emmanuel Adebayor during the match

Yesterday, Emmanuel Adebayor, like the rest of his teammates, was very angry after the semifinal match of the Champions League against Barcelona. The Togolese complained bitterly about the referee and also the attitude of his opponents. "Football is a game of men". "Whenever you play against Barcelona, whenever you touch them, they are on the floor crying like a baby. Whenever you make contact in a 50-50 they are on the floor, crying, putting their hand over their face, and their manager, their fans, they are always crying", said Adebayor.

"I have played against them three times and each time we have to play with ten. Everyone talks about Barcelona fair play, but I think they are far from fair play. With any contact in a body to body or in a disputed ball, they drop themselves and start to cry, pressing their hands on their faces", he says. "His coach, his fans and bench players are always crying. Barcelona is a great club which makes a fantastic football, but they have to stop that".

CRISTIANO: "WE WILL FIGHT IN BARCELONA"

Cristiano Ronaldo also spoke about the match and the strange circumstances around it: "I don't understand. It is very difficult to play in such circumstances. We had a strategy. It was a 0-0 game and Kaka was warming up so we would attack more in the last 20 minutes. We weren't playing well. but we were playing for a 0-0. This has happened in the last four years. Barcelona have power, a lot of power. The same thing happens every year. It happened against Chelsea, Inter Milan... and now against Real Madrid. I don't know how this can be fixed".

"I am a professional footballer and I like to enjoy myself when I play. But these situations suck all the joy out of you. We're sad because it's the same every year. Mourinho is right. Referees know football. I wish I had the chance to face a team of 10. It is very different to face a team of 11 and a team of 10, especially against Barcelona". "It is very difficult to turn a 2-0 score around away from home, but anything can happen in football. We will fight in Barcelona".

Llorente vs Adebayor: Duel in the heights

Fernando Llorente (1.95 meters) is the tallest forward in the Spanish League, ahead of Lekic (1.93), Kanoute (1.92), Rafa Jorda (1.91) and his rival today, Adebayor (1, 91). Fernando Llorente, top scorer with the head of the League, with 8 goals, through a streak without precedent in his career; he has three straight games without scoring with the head. During the 2010-11, Llorente has reached to score three goals in a row with his head, in two different streaks and still has eight days ahead to try to overthrow the mythical mark of Alfonso (Real Madrid and Betis player), who scored twelve headed goals in the 1996-97 season. With only one more, Llorente will achieve something that nobody does in the Spanish League for ten years: to score nine goals with the head in a season. Raul did it in the season 2000-01.

On Tuesday, Adebayor got something that had only achieved two players in the history of Real Madrid; scoring two headed goals in a Champions League match. Ivan Zamorano did it against Ferencvaros, October 18, 1995, and Panucci against Sturm Graz, May 5, 1998. Were his first two goals since leaving dreadlocks.
In his last three seasons in the Premier League, Adebayor averaged 28% of headed goals (7 of the 25), but his last nine goals in the English Championship before coming to Real Madrid in January, were scored with the right leg.

Real Madrid is the tallest team in the League (1.83 meters), ahead of Racing (1.82),Osasuna (1.82), Athletic (1.82) and Levante (1.82). The samllest team in Spanish League, Barcelona (1.78). But Athletic Bilbao is the team has scored most headed goals (16) this season, ahead of Almeria (10) and Real Sociedad (10). However, the "Lions" have only scored one of their last 16 goals with the head after the spectacular start of the season which invites to think about the Betis' stratospheric record. The green-white team scored 25 goals with the head in season 1996-97.

"Manolito" Adebayor wants to stay at Real Madrid

Togolese player has won the affection of the fans, but Real Madrid would have to pay 17 million for keep him in the team. He is the cheapest option against Llorente or Agüero.

Adebayor came to Madrid in late January with a trial period of four months. The Togolese have until May 28, if Real Madrid plays the final of the Champions League, to convince Jose Mourinho that he is the ideal striker to strengthen the Real Madrid attack. Against Tottenham, added two points in the particular test that approach hin a little closer to becoming a white player next season.

Manolito Adebayor

Real Madrid holds a purchase option at the end of his assignment by 17 million euros. This figure is the great advantage of Adebayor over other options that white club management is considering; Sergio Agüero and Fernando Llorente. Athletic striker would leave San Mames only for 36 million euros, more than twice, as long as the Basque club does not require the transfer tax. The Atletico's Argentine would rise to 45 million.

The Togolese good start at Real Madrid was cut short when he cut his dreadlocks. On March 7, a day after his last goal in the League, he changed his look. And without dreadlocks the goals dried up. The issue was cause for concern for Adebayor, who felt, in every game without score a goal, that his continuance in the Bernabeu walked away. So the anger with which he held his two goals against Tottenham and the wink that made to the Real Madrid fans for claim himself.

Since his debut in Pamplona on January 30, Adebayor adds five goals; two in League, one in Spanish Cup and two in the Champions League, in 14 games, half of them as starter.

Real Madrid will exercise its purchase option during the first week of July, but Adebayor has only two months of competition for show Mourinho that he is the striker for white team. Otherwise, 'Manolito' will be Emmanuel and will return to England, Manchester City.

Adebayor: "Cesc would be a great signing for Real Madrid"

The Real Madrid player, Emmanuel Adebayor, has admitted that Cesc Fabregas "would be a huge boost to the white team". "I was with him 3 and a half years, is a great player and I would be happy if he came" said the Togolese in the presentation of his new boots.

The striker has said he sees his team as the favorite to win the Champions 2011: "It's not easy to win because there are teams like Barcelona and Tottenham". "We will win the Champions League" he said in Spanish.

On the relationship with coach Jose Mourinho, Adebayor has said he has his confidence: "It's always good to have the confidence of the mister, it has been clear to me and says all he wants I do. He wants I give 100% and to enjoy" he said. Although he was in the starting lineup on Sunday, the striker does not see himself as starter: "I just think about playing football. I will not bother anyone, I had the opportunity to start and work hard to help. It is not important how many goals I will score" said the white player.

The Togolese has acknowledged he is very happy in his new club: "I'm happy, the city is fantastic, the club and the players have made it easy for me. Casillas speak English with me, Ramos tries and I have a good friend as Lass. I was born happy and live happily" he underlined. The white forward has not clarified his future: "I'm happy. I love playing for Madrid and have 4 or 5 months to enjoy the club and decide".

The former Manchester City said he has a good relationship with Benzema despite fighting for the same position: "We train hard to be prepared. You have to sacrifice for the team as did Di Maria against Espanyol. We have good relationship and is the coach who decides".

About the match that Arsenal, his former club, will play tonight against Barcelona, Adebayor has opted for the English side: "The two play very well and have very good players like Xavi,Nasri ... There will be 22 great players on the field. In football you do not know what can happen but I love Arsenal because it helped me grow. I have many friends there and bet on them."

Finally, the Real Madrid striker has said he never wanted compare himself with Raul: "I never compare myself to Raul who is a symbol of football. When I was with Morientes at Monaco, I asked him a T-shirt from Raul and I have it in Togo. It is a fantastic player. I do not know if I could get to be like him." he concluded.

Adebayor or Benzema: Mourinho decides

Real Madrid has 11 days and three crucial matches ahead: Espanyol (tomorrow), Levante (Saturday 19) and Lyon (Tuesday, 22 February). Mourinho who studies everything in detail, has a dilemma for the first: Adebayor or Benzema. The Portuguese explained the unexpected presence of Adebayor in the starting team in the last league match against Real Sociedad, for reasons of timing: "Karim played in Cup and Wednesday had a pressure game against Brazil where he played 90 minutes. We decided by Adebayor and he demonstrated why is here. We are happy with both. It's the perfect situation".

Adebayor and Benzema

Real Madrid coach now appreciates the consequences of fielding one or the other. The Frenchman has played a great match for his national team (88 minutes, goal) and Adebayor made very good feeling in front of the Real Sociedad (goal) . In addition, Emmanuel is in better condition because he takes training with the group in Valdebebas since last Wednesday, unlike Benzema who arrived on Thursday and only made recovery training. When everyone thinks that 6 has unseated Karim, Mourinho ponders a surprise again with Benzema. The Portuguese want to get him back to the war at a key moment of the season.

Mou is happy with his new 9, but thinks that if Benzema feels like alternate, he will be unmotivated. Zidane's report after the France-Brazil, adviser of the Portuguese in the locker room, has been very good and has to reflect on Mourinho. It keeps the dilemma and he does not displease Karim option.

On the other hand, when in England all spoke of the interest from Liverpool and Arsenal to sign Karim Benzema, yesterday a new club appeared; Tottenham, ready to get into the bidding for the French striker. Many British media said it yesterday. The Spurs, who have money, wanted to sign a striker this winter. They bid for Aguero, Llorente, Negredo and Rossi. None of them came and now the target is Benzema. Tottenham needs a striker and the London club's interest in Benzema is long. They have to wait until summer.

League (Day 22): Adebayor reactions

How have you felt after scoring your first goal in the league?
It was as nice as when I scored in Cup. It has also been at the Bernabeu and I feel very comfortable here.

Can Real Madrid finish tracing the advantage that has Barcelona?
Sure. With the support of the fans anything is possible. We are fighting to keep that dream alive and playing games like today, we are succeeding.

Seems you have adapted very quickly. Is your future in Madrid after these six months?
I have come to play football but in principle it is for that period of time. I want to enjoy and I'm getting it in Madrid. It is the best team in the world. So, am I going to want to stay here? I am very well and very motivated.

Do you feel well with your team-mates and coach?
Yes, the truth is that Mou is a great coach. We attack and defend well as a team. That's something I like. The teamplate have welcomed me like family. Some call me Manu, other Adi and others do not call me (laughs). But I'm fine with everyone and at the Bernabeu I am very comfortable.

Cup Semifinals (2nd Leg): Casillas and Adebayor reactions

IKER CASILLAS: "WE HAVE A DEBT. THE SPANISH CUP"

Iker casillas attending press conference after Sevilla match
Iker Casillas

Iker Casillas has recognized the special joy of reaching the Cup final because RealMadrid has made a historic debt to the competition: "Real Madrid cannot afford to be 17 years without winning the Spanish Cup. We now it's going to be tough but we're there".

The goalkeeper recognizes that the month of January has been tough but does not believe the team is feeling the fatigue: "Has been a month complicated but I hope that when we play the Cup final we also stay alive in other competitions. We had a road more difficult, with Atletico and Sevilla, the two teams that played the last final. In League we've had tough games both in and outside the Bernabeu. But we have good numbers and we are in the final of Spanish Cup. The punishment was not to get the three points of Pamplona which were fundamental".

Real Madrid captain has also insisted that the team does not throw the league despite the seven-point gap separating them from Barcelona: "We do not give up because we have been educated in this way by those who have worn this shirt. Seven points are a good head for Barcelona but not definitive. Now we are going to fight in League and Champions. The next target is the Real Sociedad, three points on Sunday".

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR: "IT WAS A SPECIAL MATCH FOR ME"

Adebayor in press conference after score his first goal with Real Madrid
Emmanuel Adebayor

"It was a very special match for me. It's a dream come true to play in the team of my dreams with all our fans at the Santiago Bernabeu. Also I was able to score a goal. I am very happy".

"I am here to play all that I am supposed to play. I will try to play the best I can, whether it's 15 or 20 minutes. I get to play with great footballers like Ronaldo, Kaka, Ozil, Khedira... I think Benzema played great. He had several chances. He didn't score, but that's football. He is a great player and he will score many goals to get the team targets".

"There are two competitions very important to us. There is still a lot of time before the final, so we must now focus on the League and the European Cup. We will be facing Barcelona, one of the best teams in the world. It will be a tough final, but we will have our chances".

Interview: Emmanuel Adebayor

Emmanuel Adebayor at press conference as new Real Madrid player
Emmanuel Adebayor

How much does it mean to you to join Real Madrid?
To be honest, it’s like a dream come true. I was born in Africa and started playing football there, and I never dreamed I could play for Real Madrid. I dreamed I could end up playing in Europe, and I did, playing for Metz, Monaco, Manchester City… And now I’m at the biggest club in the world, so this is a dream come true. I’m very happy and very grateful.

What made you swap Manchester City for Real Madrid?
I had a tough season after the attack on my national team’s bus. This traumatized me a little bit because it wasn’t an easy experience. For a few minutes I was between life and death. It was difficult for me to finish the season in good shape. The manager has a view of football for the present campaign that doesn’t involve me anymore, and Real Madrid came for me. I can’t ask for more than that. I wasn’t playing for Manchester City and said to myself I had to come here. It was a difficult time for me, but I felt more relaxed when I signed my contract. I am very happy and look forward to playing for Real Madrid.

You must be happy to have a truly new year start for you in 2011 after what happened in 2010.
Of course. 2010 had a terrible start for me due to the terrorist attack and now I’ve got a 2011 contract with Real Madrid and I’m sitting at the Santiago Bernabeu, so I can just say I am very happy and very grateful. This year has had a great start for me and I hope it ends well too. I wish we win many trophies and that I score successful goals and achieve many successful things. That’s what I came here for. Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s not going to be easy, but I will work hard and do everything it takes to be part of the history of Real Madrid.

How much of a factor was Mourinho in this transfer? Are you looking forward to working with him?
I had a chance to play against him when he managed Chelsea and I was at Arsenal. I am very good friends with many African players, like Eto’o and Drogba, and whenever I talk with them about Mourinho they say he is a great manager and that I’ll enjoy working with him. They said I had to definitely say yes if I ever got the chance, that I shouldn’t even doubt it. I am very happy because he made great efforts to get me into this club and the most important thing for me right now is not to disappoint him or the club. I know it wasn’t just him who brought me here; lots of other people were behind this as well and gave him the chance to bring me here. I want to make them all happy and to score many goals and enjoy myself on the pitch.

Have you had a chance to speak to Benzema or Lass?
I called Benzema last night, but his phone was off, so he was probably on the plane after the game. I had a chance to speak with Lass before the game and he welcomed me and expressed his delight for having me here. He is a very good friend of mine because we played together at Arsenal just for a few months, but we’ve kept in touch until now. I guess I have some family here. I played against Ronaldo when he was in Manchester. I’m at a big club where I know many players, and I know they will do everything they can to help me and to make me feel comfortable and safe.

Have you been watching much Spanish football on TV?
Of course. Most of the games in England take place between noon and 15:00, so I had a chance to finish early and watch Real Madrid and Barcelona games in the evening. The Spanish league and the Premiership are very different. The latter is, without a doubt, more physical, and La Liga is more technical and… ‘Intelligent’ isn’t the right word, but they have more players that know how to deal with the ball. I’ve played with David Silva, who is a great Spanish player. The difference is big, but I’m a footballer and I have to adapt to the Spanish league, hopefully as quickly as possible.

The new Real Madrid player, Emmanuel Adebayor has traveled to Manchester to collect his belongings and make the final move to the capital of Spain. The Togolese has not been able to train with his new teammates and could train this afternoon, alone in Valdebebas Sports City. Adebayor will try to do everything possible to play Sunday in the "Reyno de Navarra" against Osasuna but his presence is unclear because the Togolese played his lastgame for Manchester City last December 1.

Emmanuel Adebayor is the Real Madrid's '9'

Few players of 26 years may have a sports and vital file so studded such as Emmanuel Adebayor (Lomé, Togo, 26 February 1984). With 17 years he played in the Metz and in January last year, announced the end of his international playing career. It occurred after save his life during an armed attack to the bus of the Togo national team. A miracle. They played an African Cup match in Angola.

"We were just players who wanted to play a game" said Adebayor. Possibly, the same reason that leads him to leave Manchester City to play for Real Madrid. In the City he played very little.

Emmanuel Adebayor in Manchester City jersey

The 'Citizens' have not enjoyed the Adebayor that was a star of European football in the teamplate of Arsenal. Manchester City paid 30 million euros in 2009 for a player who two seasons earlier, scored 30 goals in the shirt of the Gunners. In the Emirates, under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger and joined by talented players like Cesc, Van Persie and Walcott, became proof of the clinical eye of his mentor, who pulled him out of Monaco –he was part of his staff when French team played the Champions League final against Mourinho's Porto- by just 3.5 million euros.

In London, Adebayor not only left samples of their quality. Also began to glimpse a volcanic nature that Arsenal always put in the background, after his goals (46 in 104 games). Mourinho knows him because he lived in first person a Carling Cup final in which 'Manu' was sent off for attacking Frank Lampard. The Portuguese coach was not in Chelsea when Adebayor hit his partner Bendtner in a match against Tottenham (Carling - January 2008), nor when he was sent off for getting involved with Alvaro Arbeloa (2008-09). Neither in his latest trouble, again with a partner, Kolo Toure, a few weeks ago.

His quality always redeemed him. Therefore, at the end of that season 08-09, Barcelona was interested in him. Spanish team could not compete with petrodollars from the City in which he arrived as a great star before a transfer 10 times more than his purchase by the Arsenal. In his first game against his former team, he was accused of kicking Van Persie’s face, and Adebayor, who left London angry, ran through the field to celebrate a goal against the noses of his former supporters.

His numbers were good until the incident of the African Nations Cup. After that, he took his time before returning to England. Carlos Tevez took the striker position to become the leader of the 'Citizens' and the checkbook of Sheikh Al Mansour did the rest: in summer Balotelli arrived at Manchester City; a few days ago Dzeko (30 million head).

Adebayor is young, but he knows when it's time to go. Real Madrid is a great opportunity to become, first and foremost a footballer.

The official Announcement: "Real Madrid C. F. and Manchester City FC have reached a deal that will see Emmanuel Adebayor play on loan for the former club. The player will remain at Real Madrid until the end of the current season, at which point the Club hold a unilateral option to purchase the player" (realmadrid.com)

England sees Adebayor close to the Real Madrid

The 'Daily Mirror' puts Emmanuel Adebayor close to Real Madrid and says that Manchester City would be willing to give the player until next June 30 in exchange for 1.2 million euros, negotiable amount. Togolese striker is one of the three main options (Klose and Valdez are the other two) that manage the club to replace Higuain, almost certainly low for the remainder of the season.

Emmanuel Adebayor

At first, the City, which has just signed another striker, Dzeko (Bosnian, 35 million) was only willing to part Adebayor with a transfer. And Real Madrid does not want a player in property because they think make a huge investment of the summer in a striker over the Togolese importance.

However, the English club, which has an excess of attackers, have reached only loan offers from clubs who cannot pay the tab from the striker, that around ten million euros a year. The City, threatened by the new economic regulations of FIFA, needs to lighten its payroll. Real Madrid is willing to pay the portion of the tab that corresponds (the final part of the season) and agree a purchase option which the English could be set at 24 million. Madrid would not be willing to sign more than 17.

The 'Daily Mirror' says that Jose Mourinho wanted to hire him when he headed Chelsea and was the player's salary, then at Arsenal, which discouraged Roman Abramovich. Now the circumstances are different, because Adebayor is not required on his team which also considered him to conflict. Last week he staged a fight with the captain of the City, Kolo Toure, during a workout.
